2nd International Teaching Week at the Faculty of Business and Engineering

Twelve lecturers from nine partner universities offered modules for FWI students

For the second time, the University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt called on lecturers from its partner universities to participate in the inter-faculty International Teaching Week. Between 20 and 24 May, 2019, the international guests offered lectures or workshops in their respective fields of study at both locations of the university. Students of the FHWS were given the opportunity to gain international experience even without a stay abroad.
At the official start of the university-wide International Teaching Week 2019, the Faculty of Business and Engineering welcomed twelve guest lecturers from nine of the more than thirty partner universities of the faculty. To kick off the intensive week, the guest lecturers were invited to attend the faculty's graduation ceremony.
The course offerings were aimed specifically at students in higher semesters, who were able to have their successfully completed courses credited as equivalent to a one-semester course. In order to achieve this, students of the Faculty WI were invited to register for a course of the guest lecturer and taking part in classes daily from 08:15 to 17:30 throughout the whole week. The offer was taken up by about 250 students.
In addition to the intensive teaching activities, the guest lecturers took part in a supporting programme of the faculty. The guests visited the Institute for Medical Technology Schweinfurt (IMES) of FHWS. During a tour of the institute's laboratories, the head of the institute Professor Dr. Walter Kullmann and the two staff members Ying Zhao and Benedikt Keßler explained their research projects with a broad spectrum of medical technology developments of the institute to the guests. A platform for the exchange with colleagues was offered above all by the joint barbecue in a relaxed atmosphere at the faculty, as well as the festive dinner with all international guests of the FHWS and in the presence of the president of the university Prof. Dr. Robert Grebner in Würzburg. Prior to this the international guests had the opportunity to go on a sightseeing tour in Würzburg. Schaeffler company also welcomed the participants to a factory tour at the end of the week.

In addition to the Faculty of Business and Engineering, the Faculties of Applied Social Sciences, Computer Science and Business Information Technology, Plastics Engineering and Surveying, and the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration also participated.
