Admission

University entrance qualification

To be admitted to studies at FHWS, a university entrance qualification is required. This requires proof by one of the following qualifications:

  • general higher education qualification (Abitur)
  • subject-specific higher education entrance qualification (fachgebundene Hochschulreife)
  • advanced technical college certificate (Fachhochschulreife)
  • master craftsman’s qualification or equivalent (including a mandatory consultation meeting)
  • qualified professionals (completed professional training & three years of professional experience) undergoing a consultation meeting and an aptitude test in accordance with the Bavarian University and College Act (BayHSchG)

To arrange consultation meetings, please contact the Academic Advisory Service.

More information about admission requirements and procedures is available from the FHWS website: Information about admission of qualified professionals.

Language requirements

In addition to possessing a university entrance qualification you will have to prove certain language skills in order to be enrolled. If you intend to study in German, prove of German language proficiency of the level B2 is necessary.
Which certificates/exams are recognised is listed in the information sheet
"Language requirements" or can be found on the webpage of the Department of Student Affairs.

Applicants from abroad

For international students, the conditions vary widely from country to country. The most important stipulation for recognition in Germany is that the level of education after completing the school-leaving qualification must be approximately comparable to the German general higher education qualification (Abitur). Please note that it might be necessary to complete further studies in your home country after obtaining your school-leaving qualification to be eligible to study in Germany.

On the website of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) you can check the admission requirements depending on your country of origin. Information is also available in the database of the Standing Conference of Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of the Länder (Kultusministerkonferenz, KMK) available at www.anabin.kmk.org. Please note, however, that this database is currently only available in German. For some countries, Uni-assist.de offers information on the specific requirements for admission to higher education in Germany.
