Industry tour SSI Schäfer Technology Center

On May 17, a group of 11 Students and staff of the study programs Logistics (undergraduate) and Business & Engineering (graduate) visited SSI Schäfer’s technology center at Giebelstadt.

After a warm welcome, Mr Neidlein, specialist for data analyst and simulation with SSI, presented the company’s achievements from humble beginnings (storage totes made of steel) to recent “rocket science” in the field of intralogistics technology.

SSI Schäfer has constantly extended its product portfolio, which today ranges from conveyor systems, Automated Guided Vehicles, storage systems with automated storage and retrieval cranes, robot-based ergonomic work stations to the award-winning Schäfer Case Picking (SCP) system.

In addition, Mr Neidlein shared insight on technology trends in intralogistics as well as on the market environment.
