Integration into studies

The Faculty of Business and Engineering collaborates with companies for projects, seminars and project seminars.
For this, qualified students are offered the opportunity to work in small groups on complex tasks from the world of business. Numerous such projects already show very good results.

All parties involved benefit from this collaboration:

• Easy temporary expansion of capacities
• Perfect occasion to recruit qualified junior staff

A practical or internship semester is a mandatory part of all our Bachelor’s programmes. The internship has a duration of at least 20 weeks that are to be spent in a company. Special courses accompany the internship.
Most final theses also deal with current topics from companies. In general, students work on them on site in the company.

Excursions are field trips considered as regular courses for the training of our students. They are intended in particular to promote the independent acquisition of practical experience, the on-site examination of real scenarios and the imparting of appropriate practical knowledge.

Guest lectures are single events with an individual, mostly practice-related topic; they can be held by persons who are not members of FHWS to supplement the range of courses. Guest lectures complement regular courses and have a duration of 90 minutes in general.

In order to be able to offer teaching that is as practice-oriented as possible, we appoint sessional lecturers in addition to professors. Sessional lecturers are in a public law relationship with the Free State of Bavaria; their sessional lectureship is a secondary employment.
They carry out the courses assigned to them independently and on their own responsibility. As regards contents and method, they design their courses in accordance with the specifications made in their contract by taking into account the study and examination regulations. Upon request, they have to contribute to designing, conducting and supporting examinations (invigilating exams, supervising access to exam papers etc.).
