The MAVEL Lab (Mixed Augmented Virtual Experience Learning) is the advanced immersive research and innovation laboratory at the Technical University of Würzburg-Schweinfurt. As a centre for extended reality (XR), it combines virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR) and multisensory technologies for scientific application, practical teaching and industrial collaboration.

MAVEL emerged from the long-standing Virtual Reality Laboratory at THWS and addresses technological developments in the field of extended reality (XR) to enable immersive research, innovative teaching formats and application-oriented product development. As an interdisciplinary research platform, it opens up new perspectives for scientific studies, practical teaching and sustainable industrial innovations.

Innovative research in XR – from multisensory spaces to immersive experiences
The MAVEL Lab develops immersive XR scenarios and multisensory experiences that go beyond traditional VR headsets. With a large projection area, networked hardware and sound installations, it creates research spaces for complex simulations, psychological experiments, product evaluations and educational scenarios.
