Bachelor Logistik

Why study Logistik at THWS?

Choose to study Logistik at THWS and shape the future of the logistics industry. You will learn to recognize and evaluate logistical challenges and develop practical solutions using scientific methods - alone or in a team. You will also train your ability to visualize and communicate solutions in a targeted manner in order to share them effectively with colleagues and superiors. Become part of an innovative degree program that equips you for the dynamic world of logistics.

As this programme is part of our TWIN Programmes, there is also the English taught bachelor’s programme Logistics (IBL).

Contents and structure

Our training program aims to optimally prepare you for practical application. We place great emphasis on providing you with solid knowledge in technical, IT, and business fundamentals.

However, to be successful in your career, "soft skills" are also crucial. Therefore, we specifically promote skills such as teamwork, time management, assertiveness, as well as discussion and presentation abilities.

The ability to independently identify and solve problems is another focus of our program, supported through project work in moderated small groups.

Profession and career

Occupational fields

As a Bachelor of Engineering, you will find a wide variety of opportunities for starting your career.

The defining technical term today is “Supply Chain Management”: the planning, implementation and control of supply chains between industry, trade, serve providers and consumers. Internal logistics departments and external logistics service providers (such as forwarding agents) perform transport, warehousing and handling functions in the material flows. In addition, they plan and control the corresponding information flows.

In such value chains, it will be your task to design technical and organisational logistics systems in and between companies in such a way that inventories are kept to a minimum, the availability of goods is high, and the logistics costs required for this are kept low. A special logistical challenge for modern supply chains is to react flexibly and at short notice to changing customer requirements and to balance fluctuations in demand in a resource-saving manner.

As this is typically a cross-sectional function in companies, you should bring not only technical know-how, but also enthusiasm, the willingness to make decisions and assert yourself, as well as social skills.

Applicants from abroad

For international students, the conditions vary widely from country to country. The most important stipulation for accreditation in Germany is that the level of education after completing the school-leaving qualification must be approximately comparable to the German general higher education qualification (Abitur). Please note that it might be necessary to complete further studies in your home country after obtaining your school-leaving qualification to be eligible to study in Germany.

On the website of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) you can check the admission requirements depending on your country of origin. Information is also available in the database of the Standing Conference of Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of the Länder (Kultusministerkonferenz, KMK) available at www.anabin.kmk.org. Please note, however, that this database is currently only available in German. For some countries, Uni-assist.de offers information on the specific requirements for admission to higher education in Germany.Opens internal link in current window.

Language requirements

In addition to possessing a university entrance qualification you will have to prove certain language skills in order to be enrolled. If you intend to study in German, prove of German language proficiency of the level B2 is necessary. Which certificates/exams are recognised is listed in the overview "Language requirements" or can be found on the webpage of the Department of Student Affairs.

Transfer of course and examination achievements

Course and examination achievements recorded at another or public state-approved higher education institution in the Federal Republic of Germany or at a higher education institution abroad as well as qualifications earned outside the filed of higher education can be recognized and transferred tot he student´s record in certain requirements are fulfilled. A detailed review is only possible after enrolment and correct application.

For achievements from further education programmes by the Chamber of commerce and industry (IHK) the Faculty of Business and Engineering defined the possibilities of transfer. These possibilities can be found in the brochure „Ihr Weg zum Studium“.
